Capcom has announced a new service in which gamers will have the chance to download retro titles from the ‘Capcom Arcade Cabinet’ for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3.
Starting February 19th until early May, a total of 15 titles from 1984-1988 will be available to buy with the option of singular purchases or to buy in packs. For those that buy all 15 titles will then receive 2 titles for free.
Although both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the app are very similar, both will have their differences with the Xbox 360 version having the option of sharing screenshots through Facebook, while the PlayStation 3 owners will have the option of sharing video replays through YouTube. Downloading an individual title or pack will also give access to the Capcom Arcade Cabinet ‘platform’ which provides additional features including DIP switch functionality and also a music player When playing in standard mode, players will be able to access DIP switch-like settings to adjust their number of lives and difficulty, including a Casual Mode which tones down the difficulty level and makes it more attainable to see the end credits.
Further features include 2 player online play for certain titles; a global leaderboard; a training mode with infinite lives to hone your strategy and an option to select either the Japanese or international versions of the individual titles.
