ColdBird’s Return Is Music to Our Ears

The Vita scene has kept itself pretty caught up these days with its usual cat and mouse method, however there has always been a stone or two left unturned. Those of you who are currently enjoying the spoils of eCFW will know what I’m talking about. As much as PSX emulation is pretty great on its own, it would be even better if we could have a little sound, right? Thankfully ColdBird has returned to the scene to provide us with the fixes we’ve been hoping for. In fact, Total_Noob already has a beta of the yet to be released sound plugin running!

As far as Vita is concerned, I don’t see how this could be anything but great news. Those of you that have read this column in the past know that I haven’t been all that kind about the Vita’s lack of hacking progress. A new finding like this could be just the jolt this portable needs to get us all a little more back on board. Especially with so many scene communities falling to the advent of more open development platforms, it certainly gives me a little faith to see that another great coder is back in business. The sad fact is, so many hacking communities are carried almost entirely by a very dedicated few, so the more true developers we have the better off we’ll be. This should be music to a Vita owner’s ears!
