Following our recent article regarding eEID0 Dumper, one was not sure if the need to install Linux on your PS3 was necessary. Well thanks to PS3 developer naehrwert this is now a reality.
After a few hints via his twitter account he has now released a few tools that enable you to dump the rootkey to your PC thus allowing you to convert you retail PS3 to a debug unit. This is the only non Linux option available at the moment. You will need to compile the client yourself. This is due to it requiring your PS3′s IP address.
