Minimur, WTH Happened This & Last week? GTA V News Blowout, Conversation With Creators, Tekken On Vita?

July 7, 2013

Right, first I must apologise for missing out last week. I just couldn’t. So this will include parts from last week also, including announcements, and surprisingly, I’m on time! So this week we got a bit of news on GTA V, a few more Vita games as always, and also some News from last week like how naughty dog decided to sneak some ‘naughty’ numbers into the game,

Also, disclaimer saying that this beef post will be VERY long, here’s a screenshot of the word log I get when writing:

So like 2 weeks ago, and the week before that, and the week before that, I’ll start off with the Vita news.

I got paid the other day, and thought I’d give PlayStation plus a go. I got the 3 months for $18. An after buying it, I was surprised how many game I just received for free. If you’re a bit skeptical about PS Plus – get it. (unless you don’t have the funds of course. Not all of us an afford $20, or even $50. But yeah, if you have got that extra bit of spare wonga lying around, definitely get it.

Saints Row 3, Battlefield 3, Little Big Planet Karting, Uncharted 3, XCOM Enemy Unkown, and the smaller games like Machinarium, Knytt Underground, Malicious, The Cave Pinball Arcade.

Vita I hear you ask?
Gravity Rush, Zero Escape, Uncharted Golden Abyss, Gods Eater Burst, Germinator, WipEout 2048.

Yeah, I really like PS Plus.

Just like the PS3 store, the PS Vita has now got an Indie category, there seem to be quite a few games on there, with the likes on Velocity Ultra, Hotline Miami, Thomas Was Alone and more.
But for those of you who were wondering when that Spelunky game is coming out….. It seems to be this month!
In an advert in the magazine MCV Sony got a page spread of a few indie games for it, other games coming out this July are Stealth Inc. A Clone In The Dark and Lone Survivor. Luftrausers has a release for August! Here is the page:

Well, Mr S1NFUL yet again takes the front stage in finding some news that goes into the weekly. It’s pretty awesome news though!

Katsuhiro Harada, the guy who is the game director for Tekken: Revolution has said in a tweet that if the downloads become large enough for the PS3 version, he will port it to the Vita, let’s get downloading!

It has already got 1 million downloads, so hopefully it’ll happen. But when I downloaded it I was rewarded with 1 million gold. What do you do with it?

I’ve been playing a few online games, and it seems everyone is a pro. I am just spamming those really powerful ones that take away 20% of your health. (I’m playing as Law :) )

For those of you who were excited about Warriors Lair/ Ruin….. don’t be, in an unfortunate turn of events it has now been cancelled. The game was showcased back in ’11 on the main stage, Sony seemed pretty proud on the mini Diablo. But I guess it wasn’t to happen. Such a shame.

Whoever pre-ordered Beyond: Two Souls on PS3 later this year via the Sony Store, it seems that they have cancelled the order, and you no longer have it pre-ordered. They sent out an email saying so, but if you’re like me and never check your emails, it’s good for you to know. Also, to compensate, they have issued a $5 coupon off for a re-pre-order of the game.

There was a GTA V Q&A on Tuesday, to which plenty of information came around. It includes answers to next gen/PC, Xbox 360, and also online.

Right, bit of bad news on the X360 front, it comes on 2 discs. But R* have said how the game has a mandatory 8GB install, disc one is the 8GB install, and Disc 2 is used to play the game. Presumably, that 8GB is the multiplayer and other aspects.

This is the same as PS3 – an 8GB install. But it comes on a single disc instead.

Here is the Q/A that answers this:

Also, R* were asked about next gen and PC releases. They said that they ‘don’t have anything to share’ on that front. But I’m convinced it will be. Imagine that. SURPRISE! I’m a launch title on next gen!

They were also pushed on gameplay videos, to which they said a video is incoming… Woohoo!

Here’s the full Q&A:

“So can you switch characters? Trevor Michael and Franklin – can you play all of those guys? And everybody has their own missions???!” – @GTAVISBEST

“How is changing between characters going to work during missions?” – HIBMFL
“Do you have to switch characters constantly?” – killer772
Michael, Franklin and Trevor have their own separate lives with their own sets of friends and acquaintances, and even their own preferred ways of spending their free time. When you’re not on a mission, you can freely switch in real-time to any of the three characters to drop in and out of their lives letting you see what they’re up to. And because they have their own schedules, you’ll never know what they might be doing – you might drop in on Michael in the middle of a family dispute, interrupt Franklin chatting up some ladies, or Trevor on the run from the law – or whatever else these guys do in their free time… How and when you switch between characters when you’re not on a mission is completely up to you.
In addition, each of the guys has their own missions and side jobs. There will be times on a mission when you play as one character, or as combinations of two of them, and sometimes as all three, always being able to switch between the characters mid-action.  Off mission, it’s up to you. You can play as one character on his own or hang out with either of the other two or both of them, or you can switch between any of them.
“If I play as Trevor, can I zoom out, find out where Michael is, and then go and kill him while playing as Trevor? #GTAV” – @GTALAD4EVA
In the open world, the characters are meant to be living their own ongoing and unpredictable personal lives, so understandably it’s not always easy to track one of them down in the vast city of Los Santos or the many towns spread about Blaine County at any given moment, but you will be able to find them. Having found them, (or simply after calling them up and arranging to meet them), you’ll certainly be able to hang out with them, annoy them should you choose, and maybe even assault them, but you won’t be able to kill them. They all have remarkable powers of recovery and good health insurance. The game is based on playing all sides of these three characters’ interwoven stories rather than having generic, interchangeable leads, so permanently killing a major character in that way wouldn’t make sense. If a player is determined enough though, they may well find a way to badly injure one of the characters and switching to that character would just put you in the hospital to continue where you left off.
“Hello, I noticed that the Special Edition of GTA V includes a large “blueprint” of the map. I was wondering if the Standard Edition of GTA V will include the traditional folded paper map that, as far as I can recall, has always been included with GTA games.” – received via Mouthoff
“Will a GTA V poster be included when the game is purchased?” – @ny718kid
As in all previous Grand Theft Auto games, we’ve made a point of including a map of the world to aid players in navigating the city. In all versions of GTAV, the game disc will accompany a map with all the details players will need to navigate the world.  One big change though with this game is that with a world of this size, we created a double-sided map based poster to make sure players have all the information they might need to discover and explore the world. The blueprint map in the other editions does contain plenty of additional information and secrets on it.
“My name is Pedro and I have a doubt. When are you going to release the pre-order links of the Special Edition and Collector’s Edition of Grand Theft Auto V on Brazil?” – received via Mouthoff
Hi Pedro, we’re working hard to make the Special Edition and Collector’s Edition available for pre-order in Brazil as soon as we can. We’re currently waiting on some customs issues to be resolved before retailers in Brazil can start accepting pre-orders. To all others who have questions about whether and where the Special Edition or Collector’s Edition is available in your particular country, we’ve been maintaining the www.rockstargames.com/V/preorder page to be as up to date and accurate as possible for all territories shown – if you have additional questions beyond that, feel free to hit us up atmouthoff@rockstargames.com and we’d be happy to investigate for you.
“Would you be able to tell me to what extent are weapons and vehicles customizable?” –@kieranmgklaceup
Without going into detail just yet, we can tell you that both will be very customizable – with a range of weapon upgrades as well as some very deep car customization. Stay tuned for more very soon.
“Rockstar, how many discs will the Xbox and PS3 versions of the game have? I am asking because I am just conscious of how many discs I will have to install onto my Xbox 360 HDD.” – cj67890
“Hi R*, as you said GTAV will be the biggest game that Rockstar ever created, normally it should be the biggest in size too. So how you are going to solve Xbox 360 disc limit issues? I mean will GTAV have many discs (on Xbox 360 platform)…?” – youtubos
“If we install GTAV on Xbox 360 do we have to insert other discs or not?” – Persian-boy1995
Grand Theft Auto V is the largest and most ambitious game we have yet created, and takes full advantage of every ounce of processing power available in the current generation of consoles. In order to provide the best possible experience for such a massive and detailed world, the game will have installation requirements on both Xbox 360 and PlayStation®3 systems. For Xbox 360, Grand Theft Auto V will ship on two discs; Disc 1 will be used for a one-time mandatory install and Disc 2 will be used to play the game. After the install, players will be able to enjoy both Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online without any need to switch discs.
This initial install will require an Xbox 360 Hard Drive or an external 16GB USB flash drive with at least 8 GB of free space. If using a USB flash drive it must be at least USB 2.0 with a minimum 15mb/s read speed and formatted for Xbox 360 use. A new USB flash drive is recommended to ensure optimum performance.  For PlayStation®3, the game ships on one disc and will install content as soon as you insert the game. The install is roughly 8GB, and players will be able to play as soon as the install is complete.
“Will we ever see some GTA V gameplay?”  – @ASTR4Lx
Yes. Soon (or in September if you don’t want to see it before you play it… it’s up to you) – the first Official Gameplay Video is on its way…
“Hey Rockstar, I’m curious whether you are planning on releasing GTA V on the PC…” – received via Mouthoff
“You’ve probably been asked before, but is GTA V coming for next gen consoles also?” @tomtoon2010
The only versions of the game that we have announced are for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation®3 which are set for a September 17th worldwide release. We don’t have anything to share about the possibility of a next-gen or a PC platform release at this time and we are completely focused on delivering the best possible experience for the consoles people have right now.
“When will we get information on GTA V multiplayer?” – @camronbnl3
Expect to hear some first details soon – it’s called Grand Theft Auto Online and we’re very excited to unveil it for you sometime this summer.
“A healthy GTAIV multiplayer game is really hard to come by nowadays. By healthy I mean players play for good clean fun. Every time I join a game it’s either modded or hacked. When I create a custom game, some abusive d*ck joins my game and ruins everyone’s fun game. I can’t just kick him out unless everyone votes. Do something about this in GTAV, Rockstar.” – received via Mouthoff
Ever since Grand Theft Auto IV was released, we’ve continued to integrate newer and stronger methods of cheat detection and prevention for each of our games. While we have yet to reveal specifically what new anti-cheating measures we have planned for GTAV, rest assured that we’re focused on creating as level a playing field and as fair, fun (and healthy as you say) an experience as possible for everyone. There will always be some people who want to cheat but we are going to do our best to stop it. We have spent a lot of time and effort making an incredible Online experience and proper support is part of that package.
“Hello Rockstar, I have a question: how much difference will there be between the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game?” – received via Mouthoff
Players can expect the same great gameplay experience on both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 platforms as they have both been developed in tandem. Like all of our games, trust that we’re committed to making sure Grand Theft Auto V looks and runs as great as possible regardless of whether you pick it up for PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, and we are excited for fans on both platforms to experience Grand Theft Auto V this September. We expect any visual differences to be completely negligible.
“I smell a delay…” – SanViceCity
“Hope R* will release this game on September 17th. HOPE it will no be delayed AGAIN.” –creed_20103
There’s nothing to worry about, so we aren’t quite sure what you’re smelling!  GTAV will be available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on September 17th.

If you remember the vitality sensor that Nintendo were making a while back, they have recently announced that it has been cancelled, in a meeting with Satoru Iwata he confirmed that the device that measures your heartbeat is no more, due to it ‘working 90% of the time’ they decided to can it.

Saturo said how they may continue it later in the future when affordable technology gets good enough, but not for the moment.

We would like to launch it into the market if technology advancements enable 999 of 1000 people to use it without any problems, not only 90 out of 100 people

To be honest, it never really interested me anyway.

And here’s what I missed from last weeks news. (Sorry again)

So on to Naughty Dogs, being naughty dogs. In their latest game The Last Of Us, not sure if you’ve heard of it. But a poster in the game of pest controll, and featured 2 Phone numbers of ‘naughty’ numbers. Now, I usually have a photo per mini news. But you really think I’m going to post a photo of a screenshot? If you answered yes, you’re wrong. And it was a rhetorical question anyway, so you shouldn’t have answered.

The numbers are 800-555-Only joking and 800- 555- I’ll never tell!

Muahahahah!

:)

Oh, and don’t be an ass and post the numbers in the comments section. (excuse my language)

Blacklight: Retribution dev’s Zombie Studios took part in the next instalment of the ‘conversations with creators’ series. For those of you who haven’t seen it yet, it’s right here, just for you:

Big boss man, Shuhei Yoshida responded to a tweet saying how the analogue sticks are made from a different material – so hopefully they won’t get slimy or grimy.

+1

You do have Tekken Revolution downloading, right?

Hideo Kojima ha tweeted a fair few thing this week. Quite a free were quite interesting.

One of which were photos of the mo-cap suits, okay, maybe not that interesting……. but……

MO-CAP HORSES! ish.

Okay, something else that I thought was interesting was how he tweeted asking for a studio to re-make the original MGS. I’m not sure if he means HD it up. Or remake the whole thing. But Just Add Water creator expressed some interest in doing so. But don’t hold your hopes up. This isn’t even an agreement yet. No paperwork, just a bit of pixels on your screen. It isn’t time to list this one on wikipedia just yet.

Oh, wait. JAW did send an Email to the team, asking if they could make it.

Dear Mr Kojima,

We read with great excitement on VG247 that you were looking for a studio to work with to develop a Metal Gear Solid remake using the Fox Engine, that your team has been hard at work creating.

We at Just Add Water feel ideally positioned to do the remake justice for several reasons:

  1. We have experience working with legendary IP (Oddworld Inhabitants) and treating the subject matter with the respect it deserves.
  2. Many members of our team are huge Metal Gear fans, with very good knowledge of the source material.
  3. We really, really want to do it.

For evidence of our abilities, please check out not only the HD treatment of Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath, released on PlayStation3, VITA and PC, but the current re-creation of Abe’s Oddysee, titled Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty.

We eagerly await your response.

Love and cuddles,
The JAW Team.

What would be your ideal studio to re-make MGS 1?

AND another thing. From the original Peace Walker model, He cut the polygon data from the character, and somehow applied it to a 3D printer. And he got this:

Come at me bro.

Ninja Releases

With the upcoming VHBL release, I’m not sure when, just because I’m a guest doesn’t grant me access to this information, but with it coming up, soon, I want to go over how ninja releases work, and how they happen.

To start off, there are a few basic guidelines that need to be said, they are:

  • The VHBL releases is like the fight club, you don’t talk about it. (This includes creating topics asking the game name, cost, and talking about leaks)
  • Do not message Wololo, Qwikrazor, or anyone asking the name of the game, you will get an instant warning, do it twice and you will be banned
  • If you have received a single warning at all  you will not see the magic box appear
  • Only the name of the game is given, not the VHBL files! (This just gives you the chance to buy the game, whatever it is)

The game announcement starts off on a ‘trusted members first’ basis, only a small amount know at first and this grows every so often. When your turn comes, the magic box appears which has a link to a separate page which shows the name of the game. And the magic box looks like this:

The only way you will be able to view this is by being logged on to /talk. Be patient.

Oh, and don’t make topics saying ‘how do ninja releases work’ You’ll just be re-directed to the original topic made that describes it, which if you want more information on it, it is here:

http://wololo.net/talk/viewtopic.php?f=52&t=18291

Thanks Disturbed0ne ;D

To add to this, one lovely /talk member known as Vitagenic created a topic on how not to miss the exploited game. I’ll delve into this.

Like before I’ll start off with some simple guidelines:

  • Check /talk every day when you think it has started. (No I’m not hinting anything.)
  • There are multiple ways to buy the exploitable game – through your Vita store, through your PS3, or on the online store, which puts it into your Vita download queue. It is suggested you download it directly on your Vita, if Sony pulls the game and it is on your PS3, you won’t be able to transfer it.
  • This is still the fight club. If you know the name don’t tell anyone.
  • Have some funds in your account prior to the magic box appearing. This was you can purchase it straight away. (See these blog entries 1, 2)

See this /talk entry for more information, there are also more tips in the comments, I wouldn’t browse all 90 pages though!
