The next instalment in EA’s Live series, NBA Live 14 is coming exclusively to the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.

Executive Producer, Sean O’Brien recently spoke about the difficulties the team working on NBA Live 14 faced with the current consoles (PS3 and 360) because EA decided that it was the right time to bring in new technology for the series. He states that the series failed to recover to the standard that they set themselves when going up against the market leader 2K Sports with the highly acclaimed, NBA 2K franchise. NBA Live 14 will use EA’s new ‘Ignite’ engine alongside FIFA and Madden.

O’Brien stated,

“2K did a different approach and I think were able to gain significant momentum and overall product parity on us at that time,” said O’Brien to GamesIndustry International. “And they continued with a very strong direction, and EA has been trying to play catch-up ever since that moment.”
