Netflix App Available to CFW 3.55

December 20, 2012

Thanks to a developer known as VSPROD, the official Netflix app can now be enjoyed by everybody in the custom firmware community. Obviously if you’re running one of the later 4.XX variations, chances are you’ve been able to access the app just fine, but the same can’t be said about those that decided to stay on the old tried and true 3.55 option. While the developer does say that connecting to the PSN or SEN to use Netflix on custom firmware will put your console at risk for ban while using the app, he has still provided a pretty comprehensive option to get to some high quality video streaming action.

In order to make this install work, you must first make sure that all previous Netflix files are off your console both from the XMB and in “ev_hdd0/GAME /” as the file “NPUP00030.” After that the .pkg should install as normal. The only catch here is that in order to boot it from here on out you must always start up multiMAN and then quit back to XMB before use. After that, the app should work just as you always remember with a few added features. If you’ve got a Netflix account and want to take the connection risk to use it, this is definitely worth a shot.
