PS3 4.30 Debug Firmware Out In The Wild

February 13, 2013

For those who are interested, the 4.30 debug firmware for DEX consoles has finally been uploaded and made available to the public. For those with a true debug (DEX) console, you can install this to your PS3 and get to tinkering with all the debug related features that these firmwares have to offer. If you are running a CEX > DEX console, then do NOT attempt to install this firmware or you will brick your console. Starting with this debug firmware, Sony has patched the update so that non-genuine consoles will brick upon installation. At this point in the game, you’re going to have to flash a working NAND/NOR image back to your console. Of course, if you try to install this on a retail console, the update will fail, without any serious consequences. At the moment, there has not been any known changes found between the 4.25 and 4.30 debug firmwares.

If you have a compatible console and want to take a look for yourself, you can download the debug firmware below.
