PS4 firmware 1.70 to be released on April 30th!

April 25, 2014

There was no exact date for the new PS4 firmware, but Sony Japan kind of leaked the date of the new firmware, because they wrote at their page, that the new features of the NicoNico app will be available after a new firmware update, which they listed for the 30th of this month.

If we take a closer look at our previous Blog article, we will see that they want to add a rich video editor, which should be easy to use for personalizing video clips, so they can become your very own masterpieces. Additionally to this new editor it will be possible to export and save your media files to an USB drive, which is currently not possible.

Another new feature of this new firmware will be that you will be able to turn off the HDCP protection for capturing gameplay via HDMI, something that Sony promised at the launch of the Playstation 4, but was not yet able to implement.

It was also teased at the Japanese Sony page, that the PS VitaTV will finally be able to connect to the PS4, which enables all the previous promised functions between the VitaTV and the PS4. Either they can activate it internally, or they will ship yet another PS Vita firmware, who knows.

Stay tuned for more!
