In case you haven’t been following some of my previous coverage of PSChannel, it is essentially an independent alternative to the PlayStation Store that allows you to download and install all of the latest homebrew without having to leave the comfort of your couch. Obviously this build in particular is one of the first, so it’s not going to be completely full-featured from the gate, but what we see in the public version of 1.02 is certainly no slouch for an environment that might very well be a huge scene changer.
As it stands right now, the store only works for everything that is currently on the Brewology website. That certainly does mean you’ll have a lot to choose from, but you’ll obviously have a lot more luck with this if you are running 3.55 firmware. That being said, if you want to be ahead of the game, there are .pkgs that do work on 4.XX firmware as well, so not all should be lost. Aside from the initial release, version 1.02 adds some bug fixes and small bits of information regarding each homebrew category including number of files and file size.
A project like this however is only as good as the community behind it, so if you’re a developer looking to get in on this action, then you should email MonkeyMaximus from the Brewology forums for access. Deroad has created a great product here, so let’s help him out!
