Showtime YouTube 2.0 Released

December 26, 2012

There’s no denying that YouTube has become one of the most popular services on the entire internet. With video clips ranging from concerts to hamsters dancing on pianos, it’s hard not to find something to watch on this Google-owned clip masterpiece. With new and dedicated apps both on devices like OFW PS3 and the iPhone, the search engine mogul has taken that awesome desktop experience and allowed us to get our fix whenever and wherever we need it.

All that being said, if you’ve got a CFW PS3, then chances are you might have been browsing YouTube from the likes of the Showtime plugin. Sure you might be able to get the official app booted if you’re running a newer CFW, but if you’re married to 3.55 or you just like a familiar interface, then Showtime has always  been there for you. For the first time in over a year, the YouTube plugin specifically  has been updated, and boy are you in for a treat.

The feature list is quite exhaustive, but I’ll do my best to condense it here. When it comes to the main interface, you can now order it however you like, sort it in whatever manner you desire, and take a look at the newly added featured items feed. On top of these interface changes, you’ll also be getting a more complete video player with the ability to like and dislike pages, add videos to playlists, watch them later, see related videos, and even redirect to the full movie if you are watching a supported trailer. Fixes have also been made with regards to search and favorites as well. Check out the source for full features and tutorials!
