Indie games are getting more interesting as time passes. Many of them get lost in the interwebz but if you search you will eventually find something interesting.
You may remember what EA done with Dead space 2 as part of a viral campaign. Showing your “Mum” what’s dead space and their thoughts about the game.
Well here is something similar that you will see in this footage but with some “random” people playing Outlast with the lights off.
Yeah i know it’s not console related because Red Barrels (devs behind this) will release this on PC for the time being.
I think this game will have a huge impact hence is a mixture of: condemned series, Slender (indie) but 10 times more brutal that those two.
Maybe they found some magic recipe to do this, who knows? but i was shocked about how “dynamic” this game is.
About the game:
1) You have one handheld camera which you can use to get better view hence the place is dark as hell sometimes and watch out if something appears out of the blue. (Camera has night vision)
2) This game feels like a Condemned 2.0 but for what i saw. It’s 10 better, fast paced and gotta admit = SCARY.
3) Runs on UT engine and seems that they managed to tweak for best perfomance. Plus i doubt you will need some High-end PC rig to play it.
To quote: (Some details about Outlast history)
In the remote mountains of Colorado, horrors wait inside Mount Massive Asylum. A long-abandoned home for the mentally ill, recently re-opened by the “research and charity” branch of the transnational Murkoff Corporation, has been operating in strict secrecy… until now.
Acting on a tip from an inside source, independent journalist Miles Upshur breaks into the facility, and what he discovers walks a terrifying line being science and religion, nature and something else entirely. Once inside, his only hope of escape lies with the terrible truth at the heart of Mount Massive.

Some statements of Red Barrels Studio:
Q. What is the core experience?
A. You’re a normal human being who has to survive a terrifying journey. You can’t fight the horrors waiting for you in the Asylum, so you’ll have to act smart to avoid getting killed… or worse.
Q. Is Outlast a PC exclusive title?
A. We’re focusing on the PC for now, but our goal is to make Outlast available to anyone who wants to play it. It’s just a matter of time and resources.
Q. Is the trailer a pre-rendered cutscene?
A. The trailer is a real-time sequence done in the Unreal Engine. It is highly scripted to better showcase what the final game will be.
